Video #6 from the Volume 1 Series. In this motocross instructional, training video #6 I share my time-tested methods and strategies for racing with strength and endurance in your arms, not lactic acid pump. I used to suffer from arm pump. I’ve heard about and tried all the common methods that most motocrossers know about but none of them worked. The most common one is the weight and rope on a stick, like a broom stick, where you wined and unwind the rope, which made my arm pump issue worse. After trying all the methods I found but not getting any good results I started to invent and test my own. After years of inventing and testing on myself and other riders I found the most effective exercises, stretching and self massage methods to use that got the results I was looking for, no more arm pump!
Of course a lot of riding is the best way to get rid of arm pump but if you’re like most people you just don’t have the time to do 3 or more days of riding every week. As a result your forearms are way out of shape for the demands riding puts on them. Sure, this Volume 1 Video Series is older and the techniques are demonstrated on older bikes and gear (1991 through 1998) but the techniques are the same. Learning in different circumstances can be beneficial. This VO1 Series is only missing the latest techniques for Absorbing and Scrubbing jumps and a few details of Skimming whoops.
Thanks Gary, I beat arm pump with your help and made it to Loretta Lynn in the 45 plus class on a 200 SX KTM. I am 52 and everyone is on 450’s but still doing well. I am doing the drills, watching the tapes weekly and slowly making progress. (Glenn McGovern)
